STP expansion: Growing refit capacity in Mallorca
With an investment project of close to eight million euros, STP is expanding to cater for the ever-growing demand for superyacht maintenance and refit in Mallorca
STP Shipyard Palma has announced its ambitious expansion project is underway. With an investment of nearly eight million euros, the development will see the total area of the yard expand from 130,000m² to 162,000m², incorporating 102,000m² on the hard and 60,000 m² in the water. The expansion also includes the construction of five new berths for yachts up to 110m in length.
The plans come as a response to the increasing interest from 100m-plus yachts for maintenance and refit services in Mallorca. As Joan Rosselló, CEO of STP, explains; “Over the years we’ve received numerous requests for berths for yachts of this size, and with this expansion we’ll finally be able to meet this demand.”

STP has revealed that the first phase of the works is already underway, which focuses on the preparation of the new berthing area. The new berths will be operational by the end of 2024, while the rest of the works are scheduled for completion in spring 2025.
With its new office located a stone’s throw from STP on Avenida de Gabriel Roca, Hill Robinson Spain encompasses an experienced team that offers refit and maintenance project management as well as operational and technical support, yacht management and crew recruitment. The team are excited by the opportunity that the expansion presents.
Our Client Relationship Manager Spain, Josie Burke, says; “Palma is hugely popular as a superyacht refit and maintenance destination thanks to the quality infrastructure and open house format that STP offers. Each year, demand outweighs supply for shipyard slots, so it’s positive that STP will be able to offer more capacity soon. Our Spain team of project managers look forward to supporting more owners and captains with shipyard periods in Palma in the future.”
