Hill Robinson stands out at Antigua Charter Show

Hill Robinson was in Antigua in full force last month, presenting two of our largest charter yachts at the internationally-renowned charter show.

Taking place each December, the Antigua Charter Show is a private showcase of the world’s finest superyachts for charter, and provides brokers with the opportunity to inspect vessels, meet the crew, and sample the culinary delights before they present the yachts as options to their clients.

“Clients place their trust in me to find them the perfect yacht for their family vacation, group holiday or special celebration,” comments Darina Posthuma-Veligora, charter broker at Moravia Yachting. They could be spending anything from €50,000 for a week up to three million, and at every level, I must have complete confidence that the proposed vessel will exceed their expectations.”

The show takes place across Antigua’s three main marinas – Nelson’s Dockyard, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Antigua Yacht Club Marina, and Falmouth Harbour. And alongside the show itself, attendees are treated to exclusive experiences aboard the yachts – such as morning yoga workshops, chef’s demonstrations, and sociable cocktail receptions.

Hill Robinson’s impressive line-up comprised 85.65m HBC, and 85.3m BOLD. Positioned side by side on the dock, these two standout superyachts turned heads for all the right reasons.

“There are over 200 experienced charter brokers in attendance,” explains Nicolas Fry, Head of Charter Management at Hill Robinson, “and it’s an important opportunity for us to highlight the incredible attributes of these yachts and discuss their potential with them.”

With the Hill Robinson charter fleet headlining the show, Nicolas and his team had their work cut out. “It was an incredibly busy week, but we ran tours and events on both boats to help show them at their full potential, welcoming everyone aboard, and the crew were able to demonstrate what makes these two vessels so special.”

HBC and BOLD couldn’t be more different in their design and operational styles, and this is testament to Hill Robinson’s immense understanding and experience of superyacht management. “HBC is the kind of yacht most people imagine when you say ‘superyacht’,” says Nicolas. “She’s really luxurious and offers guests every possible indulgence with an incredible team of 28 crew – her charter style pairs exclusive luxury holiday with fun, family-friendly experiences.” BOLD, on the other hand, sports a more dynamic and edgy exterior profile, typifying the ‘explorer’ yacht look. “When you step aboard, however, it’s a total contrast,” says Nicolas. “This yacht has an amazing architectural look and innovative use of glass. Everything is about versatility – the spaces are easily adaptable, the decks are expansive, and she can switch from intrepid expedition vessel to private party pad quicker than you can say ‘here comes the helicopter’.”

Both yachts boast award-winning talented chefs who delight in tantalising the tastebuds of their charter guests. “I had the most amazing lunch on a yacht at the Antigua Charter Show and immediately sent a short, personalised video to three of my clients that I know are totally driven by gastronomy,” comments William Molloy, Head of Charter at Moravia Yachting. “In a world full of ‘fake news’ a personal recommendation to a client, who knows and trusts you, works wonders. And that first-hand experience we can obtain at Antigua Charter Show is better than any digital, video or printed content.”

Over 60 yachts were on display at this year’s show, with more in attendance at anchor. “For most brokers, HBC emerged as the best surprise of the 2024 Antigua Charter Show,” commented Nicolas. “Captain Bobby and his 27 crew presented the yacht in immaculate condition with genuine enthusiasm and great confidence. They offered one of the most delicious broker lunches and organised a very elegant cocktail party for 35 delighted guests.”

BOLD’s presentation in show was managed by Hill Robinson’s charter manager Camille Medina, who said “We had over 80 brokers visiting BOLD during the 2024 Antigua Charter Show and the comment I heard most was ‘I was not expecting that!’ – you really do have to see this yacht to understand everything she offers. The exterior decks are huge, the main salon looks like a New York loft, and the winter garden is an amazing, really unusual space.” Camille adds: “On top of that, the crew is young and dynamic, very sporty and they know their yacht super well.”
