Hugo Debast takes on 30-hour diving challenge for Téléthon

Hill Robinson’s recruitment consultant completed a long-distance underwater relay to raise funds for rare disease research
Over the weekend of 5-6 December, Hill Robinson’s very own Hugo Debast, based in our Antibes office, completed a 30-hour underwater relay in Golfe Juan, raising funds for Téléthon; the annual charity fundraising event supporting research and care for people affected by rare genetic and neuromuscular diseases.

The event, organised by Normoxic Plongée, brought together more than 55 certified divers who rotated in pairs to ensure two participants were always underwater.
Hugo joined two fellow divers using rebreathers and underwater scooters. Starting at a depth of 50 metres in the middle of the bay, the team navigated 3,400 metres back to port in 90 minutes. Along the way, they collected debris and captured underwater photos, demonstrating the practical side of long-distance diving.
They also documented the seabed, contributing to a better understanding of the local ecosystem.
The event raised 2,100€ for the Téléthon and Hill Robinson has committed to matching the amount raised.
“It was an incredible event that united the diving community, environmental stewardship, and fundraising in a truly tangible way.” Hugo said.
Suzy Jovanovic, Head of Recruitment at Hill Robinson, added: “We are all extremely proud of Hugo’s achievement. The sea is central to Hill Robinson, and it is inspiring to see our team push themselves in support of such meaningful causes. Congratulations, Hugo.”
Hugo’s effort shows how commitment, skill, and a willingness to act can make a meaningful impact—in this case, metres below the surface.
