Hill Robinson launches industry-first Academy Online for superyacht crew

The superyacht industry's first dedicated crew career progression platform launches at PIBS
Academy Online is a professional development platform built exclusively for working superyacht crew.
Launched at the Palma International Boat Show, Academy Online offers over 1,500 courses available on demand, covering every major onboard department, from interior service, housekeeping, and culinary skills to leadership, mental health first aid, and compliance.
“We kept hearing the same thing: crew want training that reflects real life onboard, not generic hospitality content,” says Laura Henighan, Head of Academy. “So we built a platform around their world, their roles, and the pace they live and work at.”
Courses are purchased directly by crew, with no approval process required. Content is structured around the specific roles, standards, and pace of life onboard a superyacht, and can be worked through at your own pace, wherever you are in the world. Packages start from €50.
The platform has been piloted across Hill Robinson’s managed fleet, where crew described the curriculum as practical, relevant, and immediately applicable onboard. A deckhand on a private 55-metre motor yacht said, “Being able to buy training myself has been a game-changer. I didn’t have to wait for approval or a training window—I could start straight away.”
Academy Online sits alongside Hill Robinson’s in-person training and bespoke yacht-specific modules as part of a complete crew development offer.
Whether you’re in your first season or preparing for your next step up, it’s a starting point you can access right now, on your own terms. Explore the full course offering at Academy Online.
