With an extensive background in superyacht refit based around the yachting hub of Palma de Mallorca, Nacho would be an asset to any refit project in the region.

Project Manager and Technical Manager Nacho Diaz joined Hill Robinson in 2020 and, since then, has coordinated and overseen a variety of refit projects on yachts ranging from 30-80 metres. These clients have been lucky enough to benefit from Nacho’s extensive knowledge and experience gained from his over 13 years working on superyacht refits.

After completing a Master of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at The Technical University of Madrid, Nacho relocated to Palma de Mallorca in 2010. Based in this thriving yachting hub, he launched is career working for the premier shipyard Astilleros de Mallorca.

During his 10 years working for Astilleros de Mallorca, Nacho was responsible for developing the shipyard’s expansion into the ever-growing STP facilities. As well as successfully implementing a strategic plan to grow the capacity of the shipyard, Nacho co-ordinated more than 80 refit projects a year and oversaw a team of 15 people.

Since joining Hill Robinson, Nacho has been responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of a variety of refit and maintenance projects across Spain. One recent highlight was the ambitious 16-week refit of the 71m Lürssen SKAT in STP, for which Nacho was appointed as project manager. “It was a major refit that needed to be achieved in a very short period of time,” he reflects. In the end, Nacho met the challenge and completed the project a mere 24 hours after the contract stipulated.

Nacho’s expertise and professionalism, as well as a desire to continue learning, makes him an asset to any refit project.

“Sincerity, honesty and true dedication are characteristics that I feel hold me in good stead,” he comments. “I embrace new challenges, believing that they can only add to my knowledge and enjoyment of this ever-growing industry.”

Furthermore, from over 13 years of being involved with over 100 superyacht refits in Palma, Nacho has garnered strong relationships with – and knowledge of – the local contractors and shipyards. He is eager to help any owners and captains seeking additional support with refit or maintenance projects, no matter the scale.

Some examples of the refit projects Nacho has overseen in recent years include:

  • 70m-plus motoryacht refit at STP
  • 80m-plus motoryacht refit at MB92 Barcelona
  • 50m motoryacht refit at Astilleros de Mallorca
  • 42m motoryacht refit at STP
